AMAÇ: Bu çalışmada, 10 yıllık periyot içinde takip edilen dudak kanserlerinde klinikopatolojik özellikler, relaps paterni, prognostik faktörler ve tedavi sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. YÖNTEMLER: Kliniğimizde 2000-2010 yılları arasında takip edilen yassı epitel hücreli dudak karsinomu tanılı 90 hasta geriye dönük olarak değerlendirildi. BULGULAR: Hastaların 44’ü (%49) evre I, 30’u (%33) evre ll, 11’i (%12) evre III ve 5’i (%6) evre lVa olarak evrelendi.

OBJECTIVE: In our study, we followed the clinicopathological features, relapse patterns and prognostic factors of lip cancers, and treatment results were evaluated over a 10-year period. METHODS: We reviewed retrospectively the results of 90 patients treated in our clinic between 2000 and 2010 with a diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the lip. RESULTS: Forty-four patients (49%) were stage I, 30 (33%) stage II, 11 (12%) stage III, and 5 (6%) stage IVa. Surgical resection was applied to all patients, and included neck dissection in 32 (36%) patients. Twenty-eight (31%) patients had radiotherapy in the postoperative period. Twenty-six (29%) patients had recurrence (21% regional, 3% local, 3% local+regional, 2% distant metastasis). Seventy-five patients (84%) were followed as disease-free in a median of 40 months follow-up. Twelve patients (13%) died due to disease and 3 (3%) due to reasons other than disease. Overall survival at 5 years was 77.5%, and disease-free survival at 5 years was 66%. CONCLUSION: Advanced stage and surgical margin positivity exacerbated the survival. In addition to the TNM stage of the tumor, the tumor depth is recommended to be considered as a poor prognostic factor.
